Middle
Way
The phrase "middle way" is ascribed to the Buddha himself in his description of the Noble Eightfold Path as a
path between the extremes of austerities and sensual indulgence. Now there is a group called the “Middle Way” here
at the temple. It is for those of us who are in the middle, not quite the right age for other temple groups that
are part of the temple. This group is open to men and women of all ages, but predominantly those over 40.
The meetings are usually on the first Sunday of the month at 12:30. If you would like to join us, please do.
For more information, contact Janet Lipner at j-lipner@neiu.edu.
We are glad to be an affiliated unit of the temple.

See the Art of
Gaman
The Middle Way is going to the Holocaust Museum on Sun., Nov.
6, after services, to see the exhibit “The Art of Gaman.” This
exhibit showcases the arts and crafts made by Japanese-Americans in the U.S.
internment camps during World War II. “Gaman” means to bear the seemingly
unbearable with dignity and patience. The senior admission (65+) is $8.00 and the
adult is $12.00. There is no group rate. We could go to dinner afterwards in the
vicinity. We will carpool. If you are able to offer a ride or if you need a ride,
please let Ruth (fabbinanti@sbcglobal.net) know by Oct. 30, so
we can coordinate this.
Everyone is welcome.
